Anzac Day is so very important to me as I know it is to so many New Zealanders and Australians.
As a child I remember my dear great uncle who always limped because he had shrapnel in his leg, I remember all of my great uncles marching proudly on Anzac Day. There are none I think of these brave old men from this era to march anymore but I will always remember them and am eternally grateful for their sacrifice. So many young men who left our shores to fight and die so far away. Sadly and yes as crazy as it sounds it was sad for my Pop as he was required to stay for both health issues and as his job was necessary at home. My mum had told me he always felt so terribly bad about this and it was a great regret of his life and that Anzac Day for him was a reminder of this of course it was also for him a day to remember and honour those that fought for our freedom. On Anzac Day we remember all our soldiers both past and present and I am sure if you are like me it is so very important that Anzac Day is remembered and honoured for generations to come.
I have created a little simple pack of Anzac Day writing activities to help incorporate Anzac Day in to your writing.
One activity is associated with baking Anzac Biscuits with your class which is always a fun activity.
You can find the pack Here or from Tpt sidebar to the right of the page.
Hope they are helpful.
