Magic Water Bottle Labels

Do you use Magic Water?
I often find in times of crisis kids just need a little bit of attention, they may be tired, feeling a bit overwhelmed and just a little squirt or dab of magic water seems to soothe minor little bumps, ouches and clear up crocodile tears.
I suppose it's a bit like a placebo for kids but if it works, why not?

Simply print off a label, and glue onto a clean water bottle and you're ready to go.

You can grab these labels for FREE here
I have included 2 sizes.

Thanks for stopping by Annie :-)

PLEASE only use for very minor bumps and ouches, I always believe in erring on the side of caution with injuries especially bumps on the head.

Most parents and caregivers if able to love to help and I love parent, caregiver, anybody help especially when it comes to those simple jobs that take forever.
I have always had a box where I will pop simple gluing, cutting etc. jobs I need finished.  Send a note out at the beginning of the year with a brief explanation about your helper box.  Leave it somewhere near the door so parents can simply pop their head in and peek to see if the box has a job in it.

It is really important to have all the necessary equipment needed to complete the job.  Add a note with an explanation, I have a template on my laptop which starts Dear Wonderful Helper and I add the directions.  It's important to be specific and exacting in your directions as you don't want it done incorrectly as then it can become more work.  I am pretty fussy so I will add straight lines, leave a 1cm border etc.

Always add a finished example and label it example so helpers can see exactly what you are wanting.

It is often hard to ask for help but this is a really simple way to save yourself some time and so many caregivers do want to help.

You can grab a copy of the label here

Be kind to yourself let others help.

Thanks for stopping by,

Do your class always want to share their experiences at "News Time" rather than question the news giver?

I always operate a Show and Tell or News Time so the class can share their news with the class and also as part of our Oral Language programme. One of the problems I always had with this is was that the audience all want to add their similar experiences at question time rather than ask a question about the news-givers experience.
It honestly drives me crazy and I get tired of hearing myself ask "Is that a question?"

My solution word cards, I printed off cards with the words Who, What, Where, Why, When and How. I later added Was and Did (Did you like it? and Was it fun? Seem to be common questions.)

I place them in the middle of our Show and Tell circle and after the child is selected to ask their question the child simply grabs a card and uses this to focus their question.

The bonus is they also very quickly learn to read and write these words.

After a few weeks, I find you can throw those word cards or staple them on the wall somewhere.  I then explain to the class, how wonderful and clever they are and that I feel everyone now knows how to ask a question so we are going to now do this without the cards because they are so amazing and do you all think you can remember what a question is?  Nodding heads.  Do you think you can all remember which words to use when asking a question?  More nodding heads.

I can assure you if someone dares to wander off the questioning path they will be politely questioned by fellow class members is that a question?

They come in both color/colour or black and white.

Grab them for free here in my store Kindergarten Matters

The quickest, funnest  most effective way to get your class to tidy without using your voice.
Yes it is possible and it is simple.

Here it is ...

I have used this for years, and kids love it they rush around
bopping and tidying with a smile on their face
and hey thats got to be better then me yelling "tidy up time!"

My favs are 2 different pieces William Tell Overture and Pharrell Williams "Happy" but you could use anything that works for you or that makes you happy.

Just don't choose anything too slow.

Make yourself a tidy up time playlist.

Simply push play yep thats it.  Or better still have a child be the very official

"Tidy Up Push Play Monitor"

You honestly don't have to say or do a thing.

William Tell runs for  2 mins and 5 secs and "Happy" runs for 4 mins 6 secs

Simply keep them on your phone or on desktop of your laptop, too easy.

"William Tell Overture"  I use is courtesy of  The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra - so my biggest thanks to them.

And of course Big Thanks to Pharrell Williams he regularly puts a smile on my face.

I promise you will skip off to morning tea, lunch or whatever is next.

Name Plates - Freebie

Name Plates - A Freebie

We are quite well into the year down here just about to begin our end of Term 2 Winter holidays - 1 week to go and counting.  We are heading south for some skiing but very sadly at the moment there is very little snow if any.  Snow, snow, snow please. It's so beautiful in Wanaka so it will still be lovely lots of wine, good food, fires and more wine what more could one want? just a little bit of SNOW (lots actually)

Anyway as I know many of you out there are probably thinking about starting your new year of school I added some of my name plates to my Tpt store "Kindergarten Matters."

I like to hand write the children's first and surname as then I feel it is much easier for them to copy.  I then laminate them.

It is a completely free pack so go to my Tpt sidebar or click on the link and do please follow my blog or my store so you never miss a freebie. You can also visit my store HERE

Hope they are useful.
Snow, snow, snow please!

Show and Tell

Focusing the children's questions.

I always operate a Show and Tell or a Class News time where a number of children usually 2 to 3 are able to share their news with the class.  This also operates as a component of my Oral Language Programme.  One of the problems I always had with this is that the audience all want to add their similar experiences at question time rather than ask a question about the news-givers experience.  Solution word cards, I printed off cards with the words -

Who, What, Where, Why, When, Was and How.

After using I decided I needed to add was as I found the children always wanted to ask questions like Was it fun? Was it cold? etc. conversely you could add Did, Did you have Fun? These cards sit in the middle of the circle and the children quickly pick up the card that relates to the question they want to ask.  They must use this word in their question.  The extra bonus is the children learn to read these words pretty quickly at the start we all help those who are not sure which word to grab.  After a few months of using these, I find that we can dispense with the cards as the kids understand what a question is.

To save you time I have made some quick cards you can print off and laminate you can download them from my TPT store from the sidebar or find the link HERE but it is pretty easy to make your own.

Hope these are helpful.
